Fitness DVD

This week has been a lot of fun but also a lot of hard work on our muscles because Y4P have been making fitness DVDs.
We had to know a lot of exercises and specifically which muscles they worked so we could explain to our watchers what to do. Not only that, after watching Miss Prest’s fitness DVD and the energetic Mr Motivator, we knew we had to be enthusiastic throughout.

Check out our DVds here!!!!

Art using triangles!

We have been learning about different types of triangles. We drew a selection of equilateral, isosceles and scalene triangles making sure they overlapped each other and created new triangles. We then categorised these new triangles.
Can you see how many of each triangle we have used?

Tipi challenge

We have been learning about traditional Native American houses and today we focused on the Tipi. Tipis were easy to build and take down for the Plains tripe who had to follow the buffalo.
We were put into groups and set a challenge to build a tipi. It had to be sturdy, decorative (using only colours Native Americans would have access to), we had to work well in groups and we had to recall as many facts about tipis as possible.
The winning team was Solytha, Jing Jang, Minori and Muk! Well done.

Let's get those muscles working!

In Y4P we are now experts on the muscles of the body. So we thought we'd share our expert knowledge with the world! We are making fitness DVDs which will show how to get those muscles pumping.

Today we practiced some exercises and planned our speech. Next lesson will be the recording of our DVD. Stay tuned!

Native American writing

We looked at some examples of Native American writing and discussed why they used drawings instead of words. We came up with some excellent reasons using our knowledge of the Native American lifestyle.
We then wrote our own stories using a code and swapped them with a friend to try and translate their story.

Can you use the code to try and decipher our stories?

Muscles

We've been learning about the muscles of the body and how they work. In year 4P we've discovered that we have over 600 muscles in our body.
Use this website to practice your knowledge of the muscles.

Dream catchers

In our lessons about Native Americans we have been looking at the tradition of dream catchers. Native Americans believed that the weaved mesh would trap bad dreams whereas the good dreams would float through the middle, down the feathers and into a person's dreams. Do you believe is dream catchers?

Agamographs

We have been making agamographs in arts and crafts. This is where two pictures are made then cut onto folded paper. The effect you get is one photo merging into another as you walk past it!
