The children were enthralled at the

Review and Preview

English
Prior to going on our residential we looked at predicting what may happen in a text; using evidence from the text to support our opinion.
This week we have begun our novel study of Kensuke's Kingdom by Michael Morpurgo. Beginning with how authors "hook" readers in. We are developing our confidence to form and give our own opinions based on evidence from the text.
Maths
Before heading to Rayong, we used and applied our understanding of mathematics to solving problems.
This week we have begun to develop our understanding of place value in 6 digit numbers, ordering and comparing  as well as solving addition and subtraction problems with 6 digit numbers. We shall be doing the same with numbers to 2 decimal places later in the week.

Art
Last week we created 3D letters for poster designs.
This week we will complete the  3D letters  we created for our poster designs.
PSHE
Last week we discussed the importance of our roles and responsibilities for ensuring a safe and happy trip.
We will be thinking how we can help develop our kindness towards others and why that is important.
Humanities
We found out what the Industrial Revolution was before we went on residential.
This week we have found out more about what technological advances took place during that time and how they linked together.
Science
Last week we found out about the planets in our Solar System and how to remember the order of the planets from the Sun.
This week we thinking about the relevant sizes of the planets to each other and the distances between them..

A Good Start To The New Year

The children have settled well back into school after the Christmas holiday and have enjoyed finding out about the Industrial Revolution in our topic. In Literacy we have looked at a range of comprehension skills and Maths has seen us developing our rounding skills. In Science we have begun exploring our Solar System.

We are also excited about our residential trip next week and are really looking forward to that. Just a reminder that if your child is not joining the residential,  he or she may chose not to come into school on those days.

Have a good weekend!
