Chinese New Year.

I'm sure many of the parents came to see our Chinese New Year celebrations, it was a fantastic performance of Chinese dancing, songs and firecrackers!

Maths board games.

Wow, Year 4 didn't realise how many board games use maths! Whether it's counting, money, decimals or measure we use maths in games lots without even noticing. 

So, we decided to make our own games. We've had lots of fun, planning, making and playing the games. 

Viking oatcakes

The Vikings travelled for long periods of time so needed food that they could take with them. Oatcakes were made using oats, flour, water and added fruit. Today we weighed, measured, stirred, mixed, cooked and tasted! 

Some children thought they were delicious, others thought they'd much prefer a pizza! 

Oobleck

What do you call the substance that had the properties of a solid and a liquid? Oobleck of course! 

We had so much messy fun making it. When you dip your hand in slowly it feels like a liquid but punch it and it will feel like a solid. Fascinating! 

Separating materials

Today after lunch, we were served alien soup! Miss Prest told us that it was made from six different solids and liquids and we had to separate them all! It was very difficult to separate small solids, such as sand, from the watery liquid. We also were puzzled as to how we would separate the salt from the water....but then we remembered evaporation from our rainforest topic! 

Day 2 at Khao Yai

Day 2 has been brilliant here at Khao Yai. We've visited the national park which was beautiful and then had a fun afternoon swimming. Tonight we enjoyed barbecued food and a camp fire. We also took part and watched some excellent talent performances! 

Khao Yai

PYear 4 are having a tremendous time at Khao Yai. We've been swimming, went on nice walk and visited a bat cave. 

We can't wait to visit Khao Yai National Park tomorrow!
