Review and preview

English
Last week we have began our novel study of Kensuke's Kingdom by Michael Morpurgo. Beginning with how authors "hook" readers in. We began to developing our confidence to form and give our own opinions based on evidence from the text.
This week we be looking at how the author gives hints about what might happen later in the story, and used quotes to support this point of view. We have begun to consider the emotional journey of the main character through the novel.
Maths
Last week we developed our understanding of place value in 6 digit numbers, ordering and comparing  as well as solving addition and subtraction problems with 6 digit numbers. 
This week we have begun to develop our understanding of place value  with numbers to 2 decimal places. 

Art
Last week we completed the  3D letters we created for our poster designs of KINDNESS MATTERS which are now on display at the entrance to school.
This week we have looked at using coloured pencils and shading to draw Jupiter.
PSHE
Last week we discussed  how we can help develop our kindness towards others and why that is important.
We discussed how we are helping develop our kindness towards others. 
Humanities
Last week we have found out more about what technological advances took place during that time and how they linked together

Science
Last week we found out  about the relevant sizes of the planets to each other and the distances between them..
This week we have been thinking about the rotation of  planet Earth
and how this affects day , night and the length of shadows.

Just a reminder that as Saturday is our Sports Day and the children will be required to wear their house shirts for that. Consequently the children can wear their PE kit, or normal school uniform to school tomorrow.

Prior to going on our residential we looked at predicting what may happen in a text; using evidence from the text to support our opinion.
This week we have begun our novel study of Kensuke's Kingdom by Michael Morpurgo. Beginning with how authors "hook" readers in. We are developing our confidence to form and give our own opinions based on evidence from the text.

Before heading to Rayong, we used and applied our understanding of mathematics to solving problems.
This week we have begun to develop our understanding of place value in 6 digit numbers, ordering and comparing  as well as solving addition and subtraction problems with 6 digit numbers. We shall be doing the same with numbers to 2 decimal places later in the week.

Art
Last week we created 3D letters for poster designs.

PSHE
Last week we discussed the importance of our roles and responsibilities for ensuring a safe and happy trip.
We will be thinking how we can help develop our kindness towards others and why that is important. 
Humanities
We found out what the Industrial Revolution was before we went on residential.
This week we have found out more about what technological advances took place during that time and how they linked together.
Science
Last week we found out about the planets in our Solar System and how to remember the order of the planets from the Sun.
This week we thinking about the relevant sizes of the planets to each other and the distances between them..
