Science fiction, Science facts = Science Fun!

The children had a fantastic day discovering and exploring at the Science Museum today.

Review & preview

English	This week we began to look at how  the theme of singing was developed in the novel.	Next week we will be looking at how several themes are developed and using quotes to support our points of view.
Maths	This week we solved addition and subtraction problems with numbers up to 2 decimal places. At the end of the week we moved onto tests of divisibility.	Next week we will develop our understanding of prime numbers, factors and square roots.
Art	This week we continued looking closely, using coloured pencils and shading to improve our drawing of Jupiter.	We will be doing Aboriginal dot painting as part of International week.
PSHE	We discussed what three things we can do and how we can do them to ensure we are kind towards others.	We shall continue our efforts to ensure we are as kind as  we can be.
Humanities	This week we have designed an advertisement focusing on colour, wording and placement of picture and wording to make it effective.	Next week we will review our advertisements against the success criteria and discuss how to improve them.
Science	This week began thinking about how we can present  information in a balanced way but favours one point of view.	We will develop our discussion that favours one point of view.
Notices and events	Next week is International Week We have PE on Monday. We have Swimming on Tuesday. We will have our Science trip on Wednesday. We have Library on Thursday (remember to bring your books). International Week activity day is on Friday.

Science	Last week we researched information for the debate about whether or not Apollo 11 did land on the moon.	This week we have begun thinking about how we can present the information in a balanced way but favours one point of view.

English	Last week we have began our novel study of Kensuke's Kingdom by Michael Morpurgo. Beginning with how authors "hook" readers in. We began to developing our confidence to form and give our own opinions based on evidence from the text.	This week we be looking at how the author gives hints about what might happen later in the story, and used quotes to support this point of view. We have begun to consider the emotional journey of the main character through the novel.
Maths	Last week we developed our understanding of place value in 6 digit numbers, ordering and comparing  as well as solving addition and subtraction problems with 6 digit numbers.	This week we have begun to develop our understanding of place value  with numbers to 2 decimal places.
Art	Last week we completed the  3D letters we created for our poster designs of KINDNESS MATTERS which are now on display at the entrance to school.	This week we have looked at using coloured pencils and shading to draw Jupiter.
PSHE	Last week we discussed  how we can help develop our kindness towards others and why that is important.	We discussed how we are helping develop our kindness towards others.
Humanities	Last week we have found out more about what technological advances took place during that time and how they linked together	This week we have tried to explain more about what technological advances took place during that time and how they linked together.
Science	Last week we found out  about the relevant sizes of the planets to each other and the distances between them..	This week we have been thinking about the rotation of  planet Earth and how this affects day , night and the length of shadows.
