How to Blow a Bubble?

Whilst learning about instructions, the first thing that we did was discuss why and when they are used.  The pupils defined instructions as ‘a clear explanation which shows you how to do something’.

When discussing what the pupils felt they needed instruction for, James said he would like to know how to blow a bubble using bubblegum. This became our first mission!

Snakes and Ladders

During our most recent Literacy lessons, we have been learning how to write instructions. First, we analyzed instructional texts. We looked at the key features and decided which ones we thought were well written and which we believed could have been improved.

Next, we had a go at following instructions ourselves. Miss Campbell gave us some which explained how to make the perfect Snakes and Ladders board game, it was lots of fun! Then, we checked each other’s work to ensure that our friends had followed the instruction carefully. Luckily, most people had.

Eventually, it was time for us to write instructions to our games, these were all very clear!

Finally, we were allowed to play our games, we enjoyed this part very much!

We will be bringing these home so that we can play with our families too!

Team Building

Before the holidays, we engaged in some really fun team building activities! The class were split into two and were given the task of building igloos using marshmallows. The children had some fantastic ideas and the results produced were fantastic. Take a look...

The task was lot of fun and both teams made a super effort. Miss Bialek came to judge the winning igloo but she agreed that the choice was very hard after seeing so many original ideas. The overall winners were Minna's team who celebrated their victory with extra loud cheers!

Fractions Continued...

In the last week of term, the children had lots of fun working out how many of each flavor sweet was in a bag. Then, this data was represented in a tally and in fractions. Let's see how they did...

Great job everyone! You are fantastic at fractions now!

Welcome Back!

Welcome back 3C! It was fantastic to see you all return looking so refreshed and ready to school to start a new school term. I really enjoyed listening to how you had spent your holidays and what you were looking forward to in term two.

Luckily for us, our term began with a lovely surprise all the way from Italy. We would like to welcome our new student 'Solytha' whom we are very excited to have join us. We hope that she will be very happy at Ascot.
