To
kick start our temperature topic we discussed different ways we could estimate
temperature. After deciding on a scale of 1 – 10 we discovered this was quite
inaccurate as children’s perceptions were different and it also depended on
what you had been doing previously. For example, touching warm water after
touching ice made the water feel boiling! Yet touch it after we’d played
outside it felt quite cool.
We
confirmed that thermometers were very handy devices! We used thermometers to
measure the temperature of water. We predicted what would happen to the water
after 15 mins and then measured the temperature again. Our predictions were
correct, the temperatures started to change to the temperature of the room!
